You will find in this article the necessary information to calculate your shipping costs with Cubyn :
- Domestic postal services (France and Monaco)
- International shipments (excluding metropolitan France including DOM-TOM)
Calculating the cost of a domestic shipment
Domestic shipments are all the shipments sent to France and Monaco.
In order to calculate the cost of a shipment (*):
- Take the actual weight of your shipment in kg and round it up to the upper value (eg 0.35kg -> 0.50kg).
- Take the shipment method of your parcel and refer it to the corresponding fee on the Cubyn price card (eg : domestic shipments grid, Cubyn standard).
- To this first amount, add the fuel adjustment rate cost (**).
Warning : the parcels shipped with Cubyn Express and Cubyn Relay to Corsica are subject to a surcharge of 20 € ex-tax for express and 5 € ex-tax for relay.
(*) This calculation does not take into account any discounts you may have
(**) The FAR is a rate related to the fluctuations of fuel price. Depending on the shipment method and transportation mode (aerial or land) used to ship the parcel, each shipment will be subject to the fuel adjustment rate. This rate is applied to the total shipping cost ex-tax of your parcel after deducting all extra charges (options, supplements. This rate is applied as a percentage and fluctuates each month.
Calculating the cost of an international shipment
International shipments are all your shipments sent to territories outside France and Monaco (DOM-TOM included).
In order to calculate the cost of a shipment (*):

- Take the shipment method of your parcel and refer it to the corresponding fee in the Cubyn pricing card (ex: international grid, Cubyn standard).
- Refer to the geographical area to which your parcel is set to be shipped to (see details of the zones in the rest of the article)
- To this shipping cost amount, add the fuel adjustment rate (**) to determine the total cost.

Warning : some international destinations are subject to the calculation of the volumetric weight. This is, in our opinion, the first thing you need to check for your shipment !
Understanding volumetric weight
The volumetric weight is defined by the actual space taken by your parcel on the plane that will ship it to its destination. It is an international transport standard adopted by all transport stakeholders.
It is calculated as follows : (Width x length x height) / 500
It is calculated for your parcel, and then compared to its actual weight. The higher of both weights will be the one used for the calculation costs.
Example: A 5kg parcel, dimensions 30x20x50 shipped to Martinique
Actual weight: 5 kg
Volumetric weight: (30x20x50) / 5000 = 6 kg
In this example, the volumetric weight of the parcel is higher than its actual weight. It is therefore the one that will be used to calculate the shipping costs of your parcel. Here, it is hence charged on a 6kg basis.
